The Yeti company makes four different types of coolers and accessories for their coolers. Those types are Tundra, Hopper, Tank and Rambler.
Each one of them has its own design and uniqueness. It might be a good idea to check out all four of them if you don’t know which kind to buy.
If you are wondering about colors, they do make them in more than one color for you to select from. It is a little plain to have just one color to choose from right? I think the blue color looks the best.
What Is So Great About The Tundra Design?
The Tundra product line is pretty popular with consumers and it looks just like a normal cooler, but with better quality. It is made with three different colors to select from and they are white, ice blue and desert tan. You can select the capacity in size as well.
You can select from Roadie all the way to 420. The Roadie cooler is the smallest in size and the 420 is the biggest. So you can choose between 14 of them in sizes.
Those sizes are Roadie 20, 35, 45, 50, 65, 75, 105, 110, 125, 160, 210, 250, 350, 420 and they might continue adding bigger sizes. At first I thought the 35o was the biggest, then I found the 420. The 250 and above are more for commercial use. The size and color you want might not be available in stock.

Are Yeti Coolers Worth The Money?
Well that question is really depending on you. If you need your drinks and food to last you several days and not have handles get broken or have latches snap off, then it is worth the money. Like for example, if we go on a road trip for two weeks and we need the ice to last for several days, then it is worth the price to me.
We just recently went to Disney World and New York City and we wish we had known about this cooler before. We really would have considered buying it for that road trip, but sadly we didn’t know until now. We spent a week in Disney World and luckily the hotel had a mini fridge or else we would need to keep on going out to buy cold beverages to drink. My kids drink 24 bottles of water in 1 and a half day and that is 16 ounces for each bottle.
It took us at least 25 hours to drive back home from New York and as you know in July the weather was very hot. We needed to drink a lot of beverages. This would have been very handy. We only have two normal coolers and it takes no time for the ice to melt in the cooler, and we keep on having to buy more ice to refill it, and of course it is not convenient having to pour out the water each time when refilling the ice.
Did I also mention we sometimes bring food back home made by my parents? 25 hours of driving is a very long road trip. To be honest our bottoms are getting hurt and sore by sitting in the car too long. LOL……
If you are like us having to go on a road trip at least once a year and it is in the summer, it is definitely worth the money.
Will It Keep Food Hot or Warm?
That is a very good question to ask. It is common sense that most of us would think a cooler would only keep the food or drink cold, but if someone wants to use it to keep their food hot instead of cold then they might ask that question. To answer that question, the answer is YES. The cooler works just like a thermos. It has the same insulation and thick wall to keep the cooler cold as well as hot.
Here is a tip on keeping the food hot longer if you decide to use it this way. Try to store the cooler in a hotter place instead of a colder place. It will be perfect when using it in the summer. If you are storing it in a warm garage before being used, then it will help your hot food to last longer. By storing it in a hot or warm place, the cooler will retain heat. If you are using it in the winter try to store it in a place that has heat.
Of course, if you are using it as a cooler you would want to store it in a colder place instead of hot because you want your food or drinks to stay cold as long as possible. The sunlight is your cooler’s enemy. Try to preload cold food and drinks.
If the cooler is stored in a warm place, you need to waste some ice in the cooler to cool it down so it will last longer. If not, the insulated hot air will make your ice melt much more faster than in a normal cooler. When your cooler is being used, it is not recommended to drain the water if possible. The water can insulate the rest of your ice. Try to put as much water as you can with the ice, the more the better. As for food and drink contents, according to the manual the best ratio is 2:1 with ice to content.
Why Does it Cost So Much?
Some of you would like to ask why it costs so much when comparing with a normal cooler? To be honest, I also have asked the same question. The reason why it is more expensive than other normal ones is because of the way they make it to have strength, durability and high performance. The three terms that are used by the Yeti company are Fatwall Design, Rotomolded Construction and Permafrost Insulation. The following is how I interpret it.
Fatwall Design: They make their coolers with extra thick walls of insulation to retain the ice.
Rotomolded Construction: Makes it durable and able to withstand harsh environments.
Permafrost Insulation: A special foam is pressure injected into the sides and lid of the cooler to preserve the cold temperature inside.
As you can see from the above that’s why it costs more than the others. Sometimes, you have to pay a certain amount of money to be able to get a certain product to help you with your life.
Where To Buy Yeti Coolers Online?
The place where you can buy Yeti coolers is Amazon and you can also buy it from the official website of Yeti company. You might be able to find it on ebay. Those are the only places I found so far. There may be other places that I don’t know about. I have bought a lot of things from Amazon, from electronics to groceries. They just happen to have the things I want and can’t buy from other places.
For example, there is a chicken lemon sauce I can’t buy from my local Asian market anymore and Amazon happens to carry that item. It’s just lucky that they have it or else I would have to stop cooking that lemon chicken recipe and family members would be very sad they are not able to eat it anymore.

Do The Coolers Come With Wheels?
The Tundra coolers don’t come with wheels so you would have to carry it wherever you go. If you really want that feature, you would have to add attached wheels to make it more portable.
It is a good idea to add wheels to the cooler. I mean, especially if you have a lot of ice, food and drinks loaded, it will become very heavy to carry to a different location like your truck or car.
It will be even more worse if you are a lady and have to use the stairs with it. It is really a pain in the neck if you have to carry it and you have to consider Yeti coolers are built to be heavy as well.
I have found out that you can buy the wheels separately from a third party seller and install them to the cooler. You can see the below images to choose one. All three of them are compatible with the Tundra design.

Can You Use Dry Ice In The Cooler?
Yes, you can use dry ice for the Tundra, Roadie, or Tank model if you prefer to use that instead of normal ice. You can also combine dry and normal ice together. Those are the models compatible with using dry ice. Dry ice usually keeps your drinks and food cold and frozen longer than the normal ice that is made in your refrigerator or the one you buy from the gas station for around $3 to $5.
Just to let you know the Yeti Hopper model is not compatible with using dry ice. So please make a note of that when making the decision on choosing the right cooler.
If you decide to use dry ice, be sure to handle it carefully with cloth or leather gloves to protect your hands from freezer burn and make sure it has plenty of ventilation in the room where you are handling the dry ice. Actually, dry ice is the best way to keep your beverages and food frozen and cold for a long time.
Does It Float On The Water?
According to my research online, it does float on water even though the cooler is made to be heavy. After all, it is made with commercial graded polyurethane foam. It is wise to tie it down to something if you are using it around the water areas such as a lake or river. Even though it floats the content in the chest cooler will be safe with its rotational molding construction.
Are Yeti Coolers Made In The USA?
The answer to that depends because they have a few manufacturers in different countries. They have manufacturers in the USA in the states of Iowa and Wisconsin. They also have facilities in Philippines and China. If you want to buy one from the retailers that is made in the USA it is going to be hard.
You would have to check all retailers to find out. It is really going to be very time consuming, not to mention you will be wasting gas. Does it really matter where they made it? As for me, I really don’t care about that as long as it is made with high quality and is durable. Nowadays, there are a lot of products that are made in different countries.
If you want a model of Tundra cooler made in the USA, then there is a better option. I found out that you can call the following number 512.394.9384 to make it for you. Their working hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and that is in central time.
I don’t know if they will cost you more, but at least it will save you time and gas from searching randomly. It is not possible for the Hopper and Rambler product lines. These two are only manufactured in China. That is a bummer right?
Does It Have a Lifetime Warranty?
No, it doesn’t have a lifetime warranty. It does come with a five year limited warranty for defective materials and workmanship. In comparison, they do provide more warranty years than other products. A normal product usually has a 1 year warranty. For example, my new vacuum cleaner only has a 1 year warranty and I bought it for over $323.00. I wish my vacuum had a five year warranty.
The warranty doesn’t cover wear and tear by normal usage or accidental damage caused by dropping off from your truck or car.
